Froggy Girl?

Every week Grandma takes the boys to classes, one at Gymboree and one at ISIS. Yesterday happened to be one of their classes at ISIS and of course they told us all about the class at dinner. During bath time, I decided to ask Connor some questions about class - "What are some of the names of the kids in class?" In true Connor form, he named Grandma and Nana (both of which took him to this class at some point over the last three weeks). I responded "what about the kids?" He then proceeded to tell me "Carter, Leo...(a long pause) Cooper." I asked "are there any girls?" He responded "Of course, Mommy! Froggy Girl." I ask "did you say Froggy Girl?" Connor nods his head and says "yup!" We proceeded with our bath and I didn't say anything else about it.

Connor has a great imagination and makes up some really creative and funny stories but usually when asked a direct question he never makes things up. At this point, I am just thankful that Grandma was at class so I could ask her what he meant.

Grandma came upstairs after bath time to help me wrangle the boys into their pajamas. I finally asked Grandma what are the names of the kids in class. She started listing off lots of boys names as well and then I jumped in and said "Connor said someone is named Froggy Girl." My mom replies "Oh, there is a girl named Lily."

I lost it (Grandma did to) and sat on the floor laughing to the point I was crying which prompted Garrett to keep coming over to me to give me a kiss. What a great example of word association.

LI Easter Week

I was lucky enough to arrange with work to work Wednesday and Thursday from home (LI) on Easter week. This allowed the boys to have quality time with Papa and most importantly allowed us time to spend with Aunt Daph. We definitely left our mark on the rehabilitation center. Connor was in charge of getting the cookies in the break room and he always made sure to get one for Aunt Daph too. They figured out how to operate the wheelchair and both the boys thought it was fun to push her around, although I am not sure if Aunt Daph thought it was as much fun. All I know is that they did manage to make her smile, so mission accomplished.
Thursday was a gorgeous day and the boys had a picnic with Papa and Grandma in the backyard. What made this memorable. At home in MA, Grandma and Connor would pretend to take field trips and when they would picnic they would sit on the mat which leads out our back sliding door. This was due to the fact it was winter and the outside temps were near freezing. So when the boys decided to have a LI picnic, Connor grabbed Grandma's inside mat and brought it outside to sit on. It was so funny...we couldn't correct him. After them sitting for lunch, we had a mini Easter egg hunt outside. The boys ran around the yard looking for eggs and had a blast.
After running Grandma and Papa off their feet for two days (maybe I am exaggerating a little bit), it was nice that Brian and I actually had Friday off so we could do something with the boys. Grandma, Brian and I took them to Hicks Nursery to see the Easter bunny.
The fish tank provided some enjoyment.
Instead of standing on the tremendous line, the boys peeked through the fence. To be honest, that was close enough for them both.
Let the Easter Egg Hunt commence.
Found one.

I found my Easter basket too!

Papa I got one and I see one over there.
All dressed and ready to go see Aunt Daph.
A family portrait...not sure if you can see it but Garrett was sticking out his tongue too.
A brotherly hug.
Racing Papa
Come here for a kiss Grandma
Another race. I honestly couldn't get Connor to sit still...this is the closest picture I could get of him on Easter.
During our Easter visit, a few people made a lasting impression on the boys. On Saturday we woke up to the pouring rain and I wasn't sure what we should do since going outside was not an option. Lucky for me, Raymond, Bradley, Ian and Craig were available to go to lunch. Well, what an impression they made. Connor was non-stop talking about his cousins. He wanted to play more with his cousins so much so that after we visited Aunt Daph that night we stopped by Rob and Anne-Marie's house so that the boys could play. I am so happy he loved hanging out with his cousins and hopefully they can play again real soon. Brian and I both thought the same thing...he came out of his shell and was quite the big boy. The boys are growing up so fast it is amazing.

Easter Preparation

When looking back at the past few years, it becomes apparent that we tend to do holidays multiple times. Let me give you examples: Christmas is celebrated three times in three different locations and Connor's birthday was celebrated on two different occasions. So the fact that we colored eggs in MA and NY really shouldn't be surprising. Here is us at home:

It was amazing to watch Connor dye Easter eggs because he even used the dipper to pull the eggs out of the cup. We couldn't believe he could do it all by himself.

Connor thought it would be fun to paint the eggs and he did a great job.
Of course we were thrilled to have Nana there to help us.
Garrett had a blast dropping in the eggs.

We then ventured down to Long Island for the second half of last week. I drove down Tuesday night just me and the boys - they were superstars. They knew I needed to concentrate and when I tell you that they didn't make a peep for the three and a half hours it is not a joke. They were phenomenal and when they got to LI they ran around Papa's house until 1am because they were so excited.

Soccer Time

Last Saturday, Connor joined his first sports team and despite being exhausted he had a good time. First off, Brian was thrilled he was put on the green team and couldn't wait to tell Papa. As you can imagine at 3 the concept was just to play together. The coaches tried to run some drills and just try to keep their attention. They also played a scrimmage against the purple team but unfortunately most of the team wandered off the field at one point or another. It was cold and windy so all the kids get a huge A for effort. We consider Connor's first soccer practice a huge success because after his nap he woke up and immediately wanted to go outside and practice. Here are some pictures of the big event - Connor is #2:

Go TEAM!!!

Drill time...Running kicks into the goal.

Hands behind your back...no touching.

Now I am tired.

Fishkill Fantasy Baseball Weekend

Can you believe it is that time of year again? That's right...fantasy baseball draft occurred this past weekend. There are always two things you can guarantee, 1-discussions of players, strategy and trash talk 2- continued talk of players and strategy after the draft.

Thank goodness that Jenn, Luka and Aidan also get dragged along for the weekend. After all four boys managed to take a nap, we met at the playground for some fun.

I would consider my risk taker to be Garrett but Connor is very observant. He watched an older child go head first down the slide so away he went too.
Of course I dragged Nana to the park with me. It works to my favor that my blue eyed boys can basically make all their grandparents do anything. As you can see, my boys are used to lots of tender loving care.
Connor was so excited to see Aidan. Since Aidan is the same age as Garrett, Connor views him just like his brother. So he was extremely eager to give him hugs and to make sure he was okay.

How do you define the word priceless...to me it is the picture below. (keep in mind that is Aidan not Garrett with Connor)
It is hard to keep the Buneta boys still to take a picture. I was absolutely thrilled when I took this action shot. On the move but in sync.

The playground was fun but I think I learned more than anyone. How do you keep an eye on four kids at one time...you don't. There was three of us and it was almost impossible. It is like when you start a game of tag and everyone disperses into different directions...that is what it is like bringing the boys to the park.
We had such a great time in Fishkill even though Connor and Garrett had some early mornings. Garrett thought 4am and 5am were the perfect time to wake up...thank goodness he did manage to fall asleep until 6am. :) One of my favorite moments was taking Garrett out to the street and letting him kick a soccer ball down the road. He ran and ran and ran. He kicked the ball into a neighbors yard so he could meet the new neighbors kids and then he ran up to another neighbors house and knocked on the door. The funniest part of the encounter is that the neighbor's house he chose was the same house Brian used to visit when he was a child. Quite coincidental.
Where are all the pictures of Aunt Ellen, Uncle Kevin and Grandpa? Great question! I never think to take the camera out while we are in the house. A very dopey move on my part.

When the sun comes up...

It is long past due but I finally got my act together...Connor went to the store and picked out his very own bed. While we were at the store, I believe Garrett and Connor had the best time being able to try all the beds out and it was quite an accomplishment by Grandma that no one actually fell off a bed.

In preparation, we went shopping and here are the boys carrying in the bed rails. It was definitely a team effort. The first night in his big boy bed I couldn't resist the urge to take a peek in while he was sleeping. Needless to say I almost died laughing when I found him upside down. This is too cute for words.

Notably there has been one major side effect during this transition. As I have told many of you, my boys used to (notice the past tense) sleep from 9pm to 9am which is every parents dream. With a new bed came a new motto, "when the sun comes up, I get up." To everyone that knows how much Brian and I love sleep, they are loving this sweet revenge. We are still trying to adjust.

Grandpa's Working Visit

As I had previously said, Grandpa came to visit for the weekend. Keeping with his streak - Grandpa also brought a snow storm with him. I believe we got another foot of snow during his visit. Well usually when you use the word visit you would associate it with some sort of fun. Let's call it more of a working weekend.
The Work List:
1- Fixed a cabinet by bracing the back
2- Helped me take apart the crib -funny story actually (I got stuck when it came to two screws that were striped. Of course, I got so frustrated I couldn't find my way out of a box because I was so focused on the screws. Grandpa using his head suggested we take apart another piece which would make getting the screws out easier. Thank goodness for Grandpa because I was ready to get a sledgehammer.)
3- Helped put together the bed rails
4- Put together the snow rake and then raked off the roof - in theory this is Grandpa's fault anyway. If you bring the snow with you, in some way you become responsible for the work to remove the snow.
