Nana Time

While Grandma enjoyed a week of visiting with Auntie Margaret and Uncle Derrick, Nana was able to come and watch the kids.  Thank you for coming to help Nana - we really appreciate it.  I know it is a tough job and you never got a break for four straight days but look Nana is still smiling.

Take Two

Papa took on the task of getting Garrett to ride his bike without his training wheels.  It must feel like de ja vu for Papa since he just taught Connor not so long ago.  Garrett did fantastic but for our long ride to the school field he thought he would use his training wheels to be on the safe side.

Papa is such a trooper running up and down the street with Garrett.  A little more practice and we will be all set.

A Special Visit

We were so excited to take a trip to Long Island because some special visitors had arrived from Northern Ireland, Auntie Maggie and Uncle Derrick.  As always, the kids were full of energy and kept everyone on their toes for the short 48 hours that we were there.  One of our adventures took us to the preserve to see the fish and take a nature walk. 

We couldn't keep Papa, Connor and Garrett out of trouble.  Turn around and they were scaling a tree, climbing across the stream or climbing as high as they could go.

When we returned to the house, we rode bikes, played street hockey, badminton and had a delicious dinner.  (Oh yeah, don't forget musical cushions which Auntie Maggie proved to be a professional.)  I think we were all worn out by the end of the night.  The next day the kids didn't give Papa and Uncle Derrick a break.  We rode bikes/walked to the school field and played a fun game of baseball.  Garrett tried to help Uncle Derrick which was adorable.  When we got back, it was all hands on deck for the final game of hockey before our departure.  It was a hard fought game but it ended in a tie.  During the entire trip, Emily was a charming little lady showing everyone love.  I couldn't ask for more.   

It was a short trip but we managed a whole lot of fun.

NBA Championship Game

And here is the line-up for the Spurs team...ready to start the game as they are announced to the crowd.  The game was a close one during the first half but the stellar defense and rebounding of the Spurs proved to overpower the other team.  In the second half, the Spurs pulled away and never looked back.  It was a true team effort!

Father Son Baseball Draft

March 16th marked the first annual father son baseball draft. Brian and Connor were so excited for the event. We turned our living room into draft central.  Brian even personalized a draft board that the kids could place stickers on after they selected their players.

I believe everyone really got into the draft and the kids learned a little bit more about baseball.  Then, we had a big party to celebrate.  Hopefully everyone had some fun...I am guessing they did because the draft started at 3pm and we had everyone stay untill 11pm.  Let the good times roll and good luck to all the fantasy teams! 

Down to the Final Two

The next day Round 2 and 3 of March Madness were set to begin.  With a 8:30am start time and the clocks set ahead by an hour for daylight savings time, it was an early start for our family.  But Connor was so excited to keep playing.

Both games were hard fought battles with the teams trading points back and forth.  I learned that being a mother on the sidelines is extremely stressful and I have no idea how I am going to continue that trend for the next 18 or so years.  My heart won't be able to take it. 

Connor and the Spurs stayed focused and played so hard.  They all had fun and am happy to report that they claimed victories in both games.   They are headed to the Finals next weekend.  I think they should be very proud of themselves because they are 1 of 2 teams left out of 20. 

During Round 3, Emily sought out her friends Emma and Avery and never left their side. She loves hanging out with the girls.  All of the kids are such good sports and at one point I heard them all cheer, Go Connor Go!

March Madness Begins

Today was round 1of March Madness for Connor's basketball league. In a commanding win, the team played immaculate defense and took a commanding 14-0 lead. The final score was 44-28 and it was truly a huge team effort. Go Spurs!

I know it looks far away but that is Connor dribbling the ball up the court.

Our Little Princess

At 2 1/2 years old, Emily is a well rounded little girl. One moment she will be playing with her basketball and the next minute walking around with her princess dolls (namely Cinderella). In true form, Emily loves getting her hair cut. Today, Emily insisted that she have her hair washed before her haircut. The stylist couldn't believe that such a young little girl would be so well behaved. Just look at these pictures, so cute!

Look at me!

It was a forty degree day which brought us to the playground. The boys brought their scooters and baseball gear. Garrett and Connor made a tough mudder (obstacle) course which we ran for over twenty minutes. At the end, Connor decided to take his scooter for a long trip and when I turned around Emily wanted to learn. It took two seconds and Emily was cruising.

Seriously Emily, you are growing up way to fast.
