Snow Time with Papa

Papa finally made it to us to see Grandma after the blizzard.  Thankfully he made time for all the kids and didn't disappoint.  

They quickly got to work on building a tunnel and a cave.

What a fun day that brought smiles to every one involved.  Grandma loved seeing the pictures.  At least the inconvenience of snow brought us many enjoyable moments.

January Snow Storm

The first real blizzard of the year hit today and gave us lots of time to spend outside.  We all got geared up and helped to shovel our way out of the house.  The state actually called a "State of Emergency" so all cars had to remain off the road.  It made the day memorable because I walked to the hospital to visit Grandma.

Oh No, Grandma!

We returned home from Turks & Caicos on Saturday to very happy kids.  Of course, Grandma took the best care of them and they had 100% love and affection while we were gone.  

On Sunday morning, Grandma slept in (clue 1) and then went and sat down at the kitchen table (clue 2) and then informed me that she needed to go see a doctor.  Grandma lifted her pant leg to show me that her leg was completely purple and swollen from foot to knee.  I intermediately began to panic and ran upstairs to change and get Grandma to the doctor.  We arrived at Urgent Care and the doctor took one look and sent us right to the hospital.

Did I mention that the next day there was going to be a blizzard?  So when we arrived at the ER, it was packed and it took a while to be seen.  Finally, the diagnosis was Cellulitis which is very dangerous. It is a bacterial infection that spreads through the body and Grandma had a viscous case of it.  

Thankfully the hospital put her right on antibiotics through an IV and was forced to stay at the hospital. It was so severe, Grandma was in the hospital for five days - luckily missing a blizzard that brought over two feet of snow.  

Papa came up as soon as the snow cleared and we were very happy when the infection reacted positively to the antibiotics.  Papa came to whisk away Grandma back to Long Island for much needed rest and time to recoup.  Grandma we love you and thankfully you have recovered.  

Late Note:  Recently Connor did a school report about important landmarks in Needham.  He picked the local hospital and said it was important to him because they helped make his Grandma better. Connor - we all agree with you on that one.

Turks & Caicos

Time to celebrate 10 years together.  October 30, 2014 was our 10 year anniversary and with everything going on, we decided to hold off on our trip.  Finally January brought Brian and I to the sun and tropics of Turks & Caicos.  We stayed at the luxury hotel Gansevoort which had 50 total rooms and was remarkable.  I could have stayed on our balcony all week and been happy.

The next day we  celebrated at the pool.  Lots of relaxation and couple time.  

Our room was superb - a beautiful balcony with ocean views, a living room with every comfort, a full kitchen and dinning room we never used and a luxurious bedroom and bathroom.  Thank you Brian for splurging on top of the line everything.

I will never get sick of this view and weather.

Brian and I had the absolute best vacation - snorkeling, fabulous dinners, relaxation, time together, bike rides amd some gambling.  Happy 10th Anniversary.  I love you.  I hope you know that we missed you guys and couldn't wait for your hugs and kisses.

Indoor Soccer Tournament

For the first time, Connor participated in the indoor soccer league with his buddies at Valeo.  The team which Coach Henry put together was called the Chargers.  At the end of a fun season, they made it to the playoffs.  After two intense twenty minute games, they advanced to the finals.  The kids played so well together and their teamwork proved to pay-off.

After a hard fought forty minute final game, the kids lost by one goal.  They tried so hard and were so competitive.  Connor was a mad man playing defense.  The Chargers should be very proud of their second place finish against club teams that always play together.

It was so much fun to see you playing and competitive out there.  Go Chargers!

Garrett's Sommersault Meet

The second weekend in January brings us to Garrett's second meet.  The girls meet ran late so the boys had to wait two hours before they even got to compete.  It was tough circumstances but proved these kids are tough.  Below is the opening ceremony.

Garrett performed fantastic in all his events.  Here are all his scores:

Vault:  9.6
Rings:  9.5
High Bar:  9.8
Parallel Bars:  9.7

Fun Start to the Year

2015 started out on a great note.  Since January 1st was on a Thursday, we all had Friday off and that meant the Bunetas could stay longer than usual.  We did so much it is hard to rehash but I managed a couple pictures of the group events.  

Since Aunt Jenn was with us, we had to hit the ice rink.  We always need the help.  Emily also got brand new ice skates from Mila so we had to try them out.

Of course, our boys had lots of sports. First a game of hoops and then off to soccer.  All the Bunetas were such troopers.  

For the first time ever, the way the New Years landed allowed them to stay for Daddy's birthday.  Aunt Jenn helped us make a cake and it was time to celebrate.

Brian received many lotto tickets from Nana for his birthday.  So everyone chipped in to start scratching.

What a great way to start the year and have so much fun with friends.  Back to the real world now - school and work.  Here's hoping for a fun 2015!!!
