I am happy to report that her birth was textbook except for the epidural which they never got quite right. The boys were brought to the hospital the very next day as soon as visiting hours started and I don't think any newborn has been kissed so much by their siblings. Our boys are proud big brothers and love to hold and kiss their new baby sister.Emily came home July 26th and she has quickly grown accustomed to lots of noise and chaos. I think she misses it when the boys are sleeping or away doing something.
It is now her 1 month birthday and Emily went to the doctor on Monday for her checkup. It started with Emily gettting measured and the nurse measured her length to be between 22 1/4 inches and 23 inches...she stuck with 22 1/4 inches because it seemed to her to be quite a big growth spurt from 20 inches at birth. The nurse thought that if Emily had gained some weight then her increase in length would make sense. Well, Emily gets on the scale and the nurse starts at 8 lbs...then moves the scaled to 9 lbs...then she says "no way" as she moved the scale to 10 lbs. Bottomline, Emily weighed in at 10 lbs 7 ounces which was then verified by us going into another room to another scale to verify the accuracy. The nurse was dumbfounded that a little girl could gain 3 1/2 pounds in four weeks. I thought this was absolutely hysterical.Our visit to the doctor can be summed up in the doctors words..."perfectly healthy baby." I think that is honestly the only thing any parent ever wants to hear.
We are very lucky! Welcome Emily - we can't wait for all the fun and love in the future.
