A Sad Day in Boston

Two weekends ago we met up with the Post Family. For those of you who don't know, they are our good friends up here who are orginally from Texas. Well, Jason has taken a new job and they are moving back to Dallas. It has been great to have them here because they also have two little ones and Ariele has been a great friend. I know they will be so happy in Dallas but we will miss them so much. Ariele, I know you read this so please keep in touch. Good luck with the move. The pictutes above are from our last dinner together.

It has been a while. Unfortunately my computer has been broken so I haven't been able to download any new pictures or some of the recent video I have taken but I thought I would fill you in on our daily happenings anyway.

Funny story - on Friday night the boys and I usually drop Grandma at the airport but lately we have been taking the shortcut of dropping her off at the T stop (subway for all you New Yorkers) which brings her to the airport. The T is color coded so the train that brings you to the airport is the blue line. Now for the story. So I called Brian to see if he wanted to be picked up on our way back home. We pick him up and when he gets into the car he asks where is Grandma? Connor proceeds to tell us that Grandma got on the Blue Line. Brian asks him what is the blue line and he replies "choo choo." The reason why this blew me out of the water is that I refer to the train as the subway and I have no idea how he knows it as the blue line. It is amazing how much kids listen to every detail. We also went and picked up our Friday night pizza on the way home which happens to me across from where he gets his hair cut. He proceeds to tell me that he wants to get his haircut which is a process he doesn't like so much. When I ask him why he wants a haircut, he simply replies "lollipop."

Garrett wants to be moving so badly you can barely keep him still. If he is sitting on his tush, he is throwing himself forward trying to crawl or pull himself up to walk or stand. He is so strong at times he can pull you right along with him. It is proving a tough job just to keep up with him and I can't imagine what is going to happen once he really does get going.

As some of you know the boys have had a stomach bug the last several days, I am happy to say everyone is on the mend and is back on track.

Hopefully I will be back with some pictures and video soon.

Boys will be Boys

Last Sunday can be summed up with one important fact - I let Brian and Connor go to the store together. To beat the heat, the boys returned with water guns, water balloons and of course, silly string. The rest of the day was spent outside with the following phrase repeating in my ear, "Get Mommy." This was also the day that Brian introduced the hose to Connor. Since I am writing this five days later, I can tell you that he is now a pro...he drags the hose along behind him while watering plants, parts of the grass and occassionally himself. He also gets pure enjoyment at making Brian and I targets as well.

The boys on the attack!
Teaching Connor how to use the silly string.

Being a parent has taught me to appreciate the little things. As you all know on Sundays Grandma flies in so Brian usually goes to pick Grandma up. This weekend the boys and I stayed at home so we could eat and try to stay on schedule. After having dinner, Connor was ready to get down and play some more. I explained to him that Garrett wasn't finished eating so we would join him in a minute. I left Garrett with a few puffs to eat while I cleaned off the table. When I turned around, Connor had climbed up into my seat grabbed the can of puffs and began sharing them with Garrett. While doing this he was entertaining Garrett as well and occassionally would pick up the spoon of baby food and feed Garrett. Now if that isn't a helpful big brother then I don't know what is...to me it was another priceless moment.

A trip to Davis Farm

A few days late but I really wanted to write about our weekend. On Saturday and Sunday it was 100 degrees here in Boston but we didn't let that stop us from getting out there to enjoy the scorching hot temperatures.

Saturday was spent at Davis' Farm which is a petting zoo with a twist. It also has a spray (water) park, a huge sand box and several playgrounds. Basically, they have thought of everything.

After a little apprehension, Connor got the hang of feeding the animals. We fed lots of goats, calves and sheep. We even saw a peacock with its feathers fully extended which was beautiful. There was even a small pen of baby goats which were only a few days/weeks old. Connor took a liking to them and one even nibbled at his finger which he laughed at.

Above is a baby goat actually sleeping in a chair. Connor kept telling him to wake up because he had food for him.

It was hard to believe that we had visited the farm not too long ago. The last time we were there was September 2007 which was one short month before Garrett's arrival. Now 9 short months later, look at my boys.

Since we had such a great time, we thought it might be interesting to take a picture by this growth chart to see the change in the boys next time we are there. It really shows how you have to enjoy every minute because time really does fly.

After all our time with the animals, we were all very hot and ready to visit the spray park. Thanks to our visit to the water park last weekend Connor was so much more comfortable splashing around in the water and even got adventurous on us. He went through one part of the park which shoots water at you from rings...basically you are soaked by the time you get out. Connor ventured right on thru by himself. He even decided to use my sunglasses the last few times through the rings to try to shield his eyes from the water. Good thinking, right? Garrett, who doesn't seem to get disturbed by anything, splashed his feet around and watched all the fun. He loved trying to stand up in the big puddles of water.
First off, how cute are the pictures below. After an entire day in 100 degree heat, my boys were still in great spirits. Aren't they cute? You can truly see how much they love each other. They really are every mother's dream.

Saturday was also a day of firsts. Before leaving for the farm, Garrett was laying on his belly and got up on his hands and knees. So, he will soon he a man on the move. While at the farm, Connor had his first ice cream cone. He handled it like a true champ and enjoyed every lick.

Okay, that was Saturday. I think I will start a new post for Sunday...I told you we had lots of fun.

Huge News...HUGE NEWS!!!

Major breakthrough...Connor went "pee pee in the potty." Before last night, his potty was just decoration in the bathroom. Last night, my big boy went three times in the potty. I am so proud of him and was screaming in excitement through the house. Brian came running into the bathroom with a huge smile and Connor couldn't understand why we thought it was such a big deal. All he wanted to do was brush his teeth.

A Thought...

To all the working parents out there, how do you continue to go to work? Connor has started asking me every night to Stay Home. Specifically, "Stay Home Mommy!" He asks Brian every night too. It is so sweet, I can feel the guilt mounting everyday. Just had to ask...
