Our Shining Star

Emily was the shining star of her kindergarten classroom this week.  Emily made this poster to share some fun facts with her class about herself.  What a beautiful job she did.  Only Emily could convince Grandma to let her picture appear front and center.    

Em's - you are our shining star every day and we love your amazing spunk and personality.  We love you!

Valeo Playoffs U10

Later that evening, Connor joined his team at Valeo for their indoor soccer U10 playoffs.  The first game was a nail bitter.  They were down by a goal until the last minute of the game.  When the game ended, the game was tied 2-2.  Once again a game was going into golden goal time.  No goal so the game went into penalty kicks which the Chargers had luck go their way and they won.  That was the semi-finals.  They went on to play a full final game and won in a stunning display of soccer.  The score was 7-2.  Great game and a very happy winning team. 

Coach Jack sent out an email after the game which said:

"Playoff 2^nd MVP:  Connor “the Gun” Falahee – great goalkeeping in both games, especially distributing the ball after a save."

Brave and Determined

Since November, Garrett has been playing in the Valeo indoor soccer league with all his second grade friends.  It has been such a fun season and a great soccer learning experience.  This week was the playoffs.  Our boys are playing U9 soccer so they are actually playing up a level. 

The boys ("Chargers") brought the intensity and after a long 24 minutes, the game was tied 2-2.  Then, they proceeded to the 3 minute golden ball time.  Basically, the next goal wins.  After 3 minutes of the most aggressive and determined soccer, there was still no goal.  They proceeded into Penalty Kicks. Garrett was in goal so he was the goalkeeper for PKs.  Garrett was incredible and made every parent on the sideline take note of his intensity and determination.  He stood in that goal and tried his very best.  Unfortunately, the other team had some fantastic corner shots.  Garrett was congratulated by all watching because he did everything he could to win.  Some times we come up short but if you put in the effort there is nothing else you can do.  What a true Champion!!!

An Official Hurricane

Garrett at the age of 7 tried out and made the U9 baseball team called the Hurricanes.  He practiced all fall with them and is currently in winter training sessions.   

He came home this Friday night with his new uniform and I can officially say I am the number fan of #10 on the Hurricanes. 

Great Wolf Lodge

To break up the winter sports schedule, we took the opportunity to head up north for a night.  We stayed at Great Wolf Lodge and took advantage of all the amenities. We played mini golf, rode amusement rides, spent lots of time playing arcade games and hit the water park.  We went late in the evening to the water park and boy did we have fun.  The kids played and laughed together which is exactly what you want to see as a parent. Then we hit the big tube rides which we all rode, yes that includes crazy Emily who couldn't get enough.  At the end of the evening, they went into the hot tub that linked to the outside and it was actually snowing.  They were all so excited to be outside in a hot tub in the snow.  The night ended with some late night snacks from every vending machine on each floor and lots of laughs and smiles. 

The next day the kids decided to participate in Magic Quest which is a huge scavenger hunt with a magic wand.  I think we walked close to four miles working on our quest which made us all have lots of fun. 

What a great quick trip that was lots of fun family time. 

A Moment

Our kids play sports all day everyday and I just love to watch them out there.  I know the boys love sports deep down to their toes.  When they step out onto the field/court, their faces show that they want to be there and I even see smiles break through.  Connor has been on the MetroWest Travel B team this year and it has been a great experience.  Over the past two months, Connor has grown leaps and bounds in his confidence.  He is learning to be aggressive when he is face to face with his opponent and he is putting his all into every moment on the court.   

This weeks game was in Lexington and to say you played lights out is an understatement.  You guarded the opposing teams best player and shut him down.  You then went on to score 12 points and I lost count of rebounds.  Most of all, I love that you are enjoying the moment.

To see you working so hard and smiling makes me so incredibly happy for you.  Proud - just so proud!

Team Dancer

Emily participated in her first A Fine Dance Studio Competition Kick-Off Event.  I was honored to be Emily's guest for their first presentation of their dances for the competition season.  Emily has practiced so hard and is really a spectacular performer.  I am so proud of you!

Oh Daddy - 39!  As always, the kids get so excited for your birthday and I hope you felt all the love and happiness that surrounded you.

They put lots of effort into making daddy a cake that everyone enjoyed eating.
