Charles River & The Zoo

Still in August, specifically the weekend of August 15th.

We were staying home this weekend and decided to take full advantage. Just down the road from our house is the Charles River and a small natural park...Brian has always wanted to check it out so we took a little adventure that way.

When we arrived at the river's edge I soon realized that it was impossible to keep them out of the water. I spent most of my time holding on to the back of Garrett's shirt to make sure he didn't venture too far. However, Daddy took them through the water and onto a rock which they thought was awesome.

Connor was a little dare devil too and was ready to walk in the water as well. Looks like we definitely need to start our swimming lessons again STAT.

While they were busy in the water, I stood on the side lines being lunch for all the mosquitoes by the river. The boys escaped with not one bite and I had about twenty bites on each leg...apparently the water does have its advantages.

The next day we were off to the zoo. Of course, we have been here before so the boys knew exactly where they wanted to go and basically Connor could take us on a tour of the zoo. Garrett is in the stage of loving animals, he can say or imitate almost every animal so he really gets a kick out of seeing them. He likes to get up close and personal so he scales every fence and get as close as he can.
Mack - A character out of the Cars movie was right outside the restaurant so they could have spent the rest of the afternoon hanging out in there. The funny thing is they both don't like when it actually moves so no quarters were necessary.

On our way in to see the gorillas, we wanted to do a little height comparison.

Connor = Gorillas (Give or take a few inches)

Garrett = Hippos

Garrett made it perfectly clear that his favorite animal was the hippo this trip. We basically had to visit the hippo about ten times. He loved him and kept pointing out his tushie which was classic. Below is the specific hippo he loved.

Just another weekend which proved to be too short but there is more to come.
