Connor's fall baseball coach asked if Connor would be interested in coming to play a game with his son's third grade team. To our surprise, Connor jumped at the chance and was excited to play-up with some of his old fall team mates. I was lucky enough to get to attend the game. Connor got the first hit of the game in the bottom of the second and ignited a rally by the whole team. He went 3 for 3 in the game and was a key to the offensive power of the Sandy Hooks today.
The most impressive part of the game is that Connor had the confidence to step up and play with older kids. He never hesitated.
The next day one of the coaches passed along the email chain between the Sandy Hook Coaches to Brian. The following is an excerpt of the email. "As an aside, I would take Connor the 8 year old
over many of our players both on ability(at least hitting) and certainly
attitude." (Keep in mind they played Connor in the outfield the whole game so he didn't have a chance to show off his defensive skills.)
You are one special kid young man. Keep on having fun and working hard.
