Spring Break with Grandma

It is April break from school and Grandma is holding down the fort.  It is amazing how much they fit into a day and they are all still smiling at the end of the day.

Walpole U9 Tournament

Yesterday was Garrett's first experience with playing in a baseball tournament and boy was he geared up and fired up.  They came away from the day with 1 win and 1 loss.  Due to the run differential, they proceeded into the next round today.  

Garrett was the starting pitcher today and he didn't disappoint.  He pitched lights out.

As lead off hitter, he did his job by getting on base each time at bat.  You are simply phenomenal to watch.  

They won a nail biter to send them to the semi finals.  

In the semi finals, it came down to the last batter and unfortunately it didn't go the Hurricanes way.  It was amazing to watch the team pull together during this tournament and really show their best stuff.  As usual, Garrett was a fantastic teammate and played his heart out.  Great Job!

First Club Baseball Season

It is early April and the boys are heading out for their first club baseball games.  Don't they look fantastic.  We wish you a great season and are so proud of how hard you work.  Go Get Them!

First Dance Competition

Today, Emily attended her first dance competition and it was magical.  She had so much fun hanging out with the older girls and once they were on stage they were beautiful. They put their all into the performances.

Prep 1 was awarded one of the four special awards of the day.  The Glow their lyrical dance was awarded The Shining Stars Award.  Both of the dances were awarded Gold Honors.

They received the invite to Nationals for their jazz dance.  Emily received the Nationals certificate for her team - see the little cupcake second from the right. 

What an amazing experience and congratulations Emily on a very successful competition.

Picture Day

it is Picture Day!  Emily is on prep team 1 this year so the hair and makeup need to be spot on.  She is so excited to be part of the team and loves dancing with her friends.  Emily wanted to see how her hair was looking in the car so we took a quick picture to check it out.

There are no words to describe how cute and adorable you are.  Emily you light up when you hit the dance floor and we love seeing that smile.  We are so proud of you.  

Snow Again!

This has to be a joke - it is April 4th!!!!!

Oh no! Baseball finger

At the end of January, Garrett was practicing with his Hurricanes Team and he jammed his finger when fielding a ground ball at shortstop.  It hurt and was swollen but we iced it.  Garrett never brought up the topic of his finger again.  Last week, I happened to take a look at his finger.  It was still swollen but now the tip of his finger actually drooped downward.  Oh No!  

We went right to the doctor and I heard the words that made my heart sink into my feet.  Garrett's primary car physician tells us that it may be broken and to see an orthopedist immediately.  (Garrett I am so sorry I didn't notice sooner - I feel like the worst mother ever.)  

Garrett and I were off to the Orthopedic Department of the Boston Children's Hospital.  We were sent down for x-rays and were seen in record time.  The worst was confirmed.  Garrett has mallet finger which is referenced to as baseball finger.  The bone in his first knuckle chipped and the ligament tore. Garrett will have to wear a simple splint for the next 8 weeks and we are hoping that the ligament reattaches so that he can straighten his finger again.

Thanks for being so brave buddy.  Garrett isn't letting this slow him down.  He is somehow still managing to play all his sports including pitching in his games.  (Doctor approved all sports activities)

Note:  I am now writing this 7 weeks later.  Garrett has completely healed and we are slowly weening off the splint.  He will be splint free in one week with a finger that now has full strength and bending ability.  Greatest news ever!!
